How do I make grapefruit and rosemary pink salt and sugar scrub recipe

With just a couple of steps, you will have a wonderful DIY beauty product!

All it takes is

Mixing your Himylian salt, sugar in a large bowl

Pouring your fractionated coconut oil (or any carrier oil of choice) over the salt and sugar and mix

Add in 20 drops of essential oils. I use 15 of grapefruit and 5 of rosemary, but feel free to add more if desired.

Why essential oils instead of fragrance?

The main difference between fragrance oils and essential oils is that fragrance oils are manufactured in a lab and essential oils are made of natural materials. Often times, body scrubs found in the store are made with man made synthetic fragrance oils, because they are inexpensive, they hold their fragrance longer and there are endless options.

Our family does not use any products with any synthetic fragrance, as they can contain up to 80 chemical ingredients. On a cosmetics label, synthetic fragrance oils could be labeled as perfume, fragrance, fragrance oil or parfum. Making our own gives us full control over the ingredients.

We choose Young Living for all of our essential oils and household products, since we can be certain we're getting the best quality all natural oils available. Read more here.

The essential oils
Grapefruit essential oil is cold pressed from the peels of the fresh fruit for a citrusy oil with the bright aroma of a grapefruit orchard. It’s this sweet, invigorating scent that associates the essential oil with feelings of joy, satisfaction, and playfulness. Not only is Grapefruit a wonderful essential oil to diffuse, but it’s also a great addition to DIY skin care products.

Rosemary essential oil has a robust, herbaceous aroma. Rosemary essential oil uses include topical application and direct inhalation, and its complex, woodsy aroma can help create an energizing environment and promote a sense of clarity.

Why exfoliate?

Exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells to fresh and restore the pores. When done properly, a well made sugar scrub will not dehydrate your skin, but will act as a natural humectant and leave you feeling silky smooth.

I use my scrub on my body each time I shower (every couple of days) but would not recommend exfoliating daily. Most people benefit most from using an exfoliating scrub once a week.

I only exfoliate the skin on my face once per week.

WHEN should I use grapefruit and rosemary pink salt and sugar scrub recipe

  • Weekly to maintain soft, smooth skin.
  • Before you shave
  • To help alleviate ingrown hairs

How long will my scrub keep?

Due to the fact that homemade versions don’t contain any preservatives, sugar scrubs usually keep a month or two in an airtight container. You must use a clean scoop in your sugar scrub to prevent adding bacteria into it. a great way to gift this scrub is with a little scoop.
