Rich, creamy, sweet, and slightly tart. These treats take on a beautiful pink hue, and their creamsicle texture is spot on. If you find yourself abundant with blood oranges, make these blood orange creamsicles and watch them disappear like magic.

Blood oranges are typically sweeter than other oranges. And one blood orange contains 75 percent of the daily recommended value of vitamin C!

As I mentioned in my blood orange and crispy almond sage salad, I always regret not creating recipes when blood orange season comes around. I have been making these for two years now, and decided I wouldn't let the opportunity pass to share them on the blog ! They come just in time for valentines when I'm craving all the sweet and pink!

How to make Blood orange creamsicles

These creamy frozen treats need a little extra work and fat to obtain the right creamsicle texture.

  • First you'll start by squeezing the juice of 10 medium sized blood oranges.
  • Strain to remove any seeds or pulp into a small sauce pan.
  • Add in your greek yogurt, heavy cream and honey.
  • Heat on low for 15 minutes for a slow reduction, and to allow the honey to completely dissolve.
  • Transfer into popsicle molds. Mine made 6 popsicles in this stainless steel popsicle mold.
  • Freeze for 6 hours - overnight
