High Vibe Muscle Soothing Vitamin C Orange Mint Epsom Balt Salt
My muscles are aching. For the first time since I was seven months pregnant (and I now have an 8 month old son) I have consistently made it to the gym, or made time for a home workout, the last six days in a row (!)
Generally speaking, I am fairly gentle with my workouts. I enjoy lots of walking and stretching to move my body on the regular, and I don’t do anything too intensive, and mentally, I’m not in a place where I feel obligated to push to it to extremes. That is why I have been really loving eight minute tabatas. If you have never heard of tabatas, they are It high-intensity exercises in a specific 20-seconds-on, 10-seconds-off intervals, that last for eight minutes. I find them extremely achievable, because there are frequent breaks and rest periods. And I can always find eight minutes if making it to the gym feels out of reach. Still, despite being so short, I can tell they are effective, because my body is experiencing the strangely appealing soreness that accompanies a successful week of working out.
On Friday nights I have a tea and tub ritual. I make myself a pot of steaming tea, and soak in the tub, and I make the time to clear my mind. This week, I created a simple bath salt recipe for aching muscles that’s sure to help you relax.

Ingredient breakdown:
The base of this bath salt recipe is epsom salt. Epsom baths are used to ease muscle soreness, and alleviate stress. Epsom salts are harmless and natural chemical compound made up of magnesium, which is a very abundant mineral found in the human body. People are often lacking in magnesium, which is responsible for hundreds of biochemical reactions that benefit your body’s complex systems. Although the magnesium in epsom salt is not proven to absorb through the skin, and can not help alleviate gaps in magnesium deficiency via nutrition, it is capable of soothing your muscles.
I mixed the Epsom salts with ground dried orange to compliment the bath salts, as it’s not only asetically more pleasing with the bright orange color, but orange peel effectively cleans skin, 100% naturally. The peel of bitter orange has been used in holistic medicine for years, and is believed to be able to improve your health by protecting the immune system, due to it’s abundant antioxidants and organic compounds. The citrus scent is uplifting, and a bath isn’t complete without a high vibe scent to complete the experience.
Orange essential oil was added to enhance the sweet orange scent, and for its additional healing properties.
Peppermint oil was added as its minty scent compliments the citrus, and for its anti-inflammatory properties. Peppermint is also considered a muscle relaxant, which is crucial for bath time before bedtime.
Lastly, jojoba oil was added as a carrier oil, and for it’s nourishing properties. Jojaba is loaded with Vitamin E, which is perfect for a bath, as Vitamin E promotes healthy skin.
