The days of being on the receiving end of plastic-wrapped grocery store flowers and some toxic perfume for valentines day are long gone in this house.
It seems that world has become health and environmentally conscious, and this year we want all of the essential oils for valentines day. And in my opinion, the only thing that could possibly be sweeter would be a homemade, sustainable gift made from quality therapeutic grade essential oils. Here are four easy recipes to help you do just that for your loved ones. Because they deserve nothing less than the best.
Side note: I speak on behalf of everyone when I say while we no longer want plastic-wrapped flowers or perfume, we do still want all the chocolate. Thank you in advance. Now let’s check out the diys!
1) Sweetheart bath bombs
The sweetest, most fun gift for teachers or your best galentines. Naturally candy scented with citrus, mint, and ylang ylang essential oils, they spark all of your senses as they dissolve away in the tub. Actual sweetheart candies on top are totally optional, but it sure makes them look darling. If you haven’t tried to make bath bombs yet, I’m here to tell you it’s worth trying. They’re an amazing way to give a beautiful, simple gift to your friends and family. And once you’ve invested in a few bath bomb molds, you can use specific oils you need for any occasion or ailment and you’ll always be minutes away from a soothing, homeopathic gift or warm bath for yourself. Be sure to gift your bath bombs in something environmentally friendly, like these large biodegradable tea bags.
2) Minty fresh lip balm
This is a favorite recipe that you can use any essential oil in with great success. My personal favorite is “aromaease” by young living. Hint hint: Patrick, are you reading? Aromaease is a dreamy blend of peppermint, spearmint, ginger root, cardamom, and fennel oils. And it feels refreshing. I’m not sure what happened over the last decade, but the thought of sticky lipgloss catching my hair sounds really annoying when I’m so used to using this soft, healthy minty fresh lip balm. What better way to share a smooch with fresh breath and soft lips. And I can not get enough of these bamboo lip balm containers. You can use them over and over, and switch up how you want to flavor your balm as you run out. The possibilities are endless. If you gift them, make sure to pass along the recipe with my free printable (see below with the recipes) and let your recipient know they can reuse the container!
3) Ningxia redhot cinnamon gummy bears
Turn your crazy healthy Ningxia samples into a delicious candy that tastes just like redhots. They have that fiery, spicy taste sensation thanks to cinnamon bark essential oil. And they are amazing for your health. Between antioxidant-rich ningxia, a bit of honey, and gelatin – you have yourself a powerhouse treat. Ningxia is a slightly tart supplement that promotes increased energy levels, normal cellular function, and whole-body health. A daily shot promotes wellness, so why not add it to our gummy bears? 🙂
Side note: It is imperative you are using a quality food grade essential oil, and not just something you grabbed off of the shelf at target.
4) High vibe rosehip glow serum
I saved my favorite for last! Roses are well known for being the highest vibe flower in the plant kingdom. Rosehip and primrose oils are also prized for being beneficial for the complexion. This rose oil blend is made with an insanely happy essential oil blend called “abundance” by young living. Filled with skin-loving essential oils like Frankincense, Myrrh and orange peel, it has a bright scent that boosts your mood. You can not help but drift off into a peaceful sleep when you use this serum. The rosehip oil gives it this beautiful golden color. Share in small doppler bottles and your friends and loved ones will thank you for their glow.
now to the recipes, directions, and ingredients! ….
1) sweethearts bathbombs
Before you start to assemble your bath bombs, measure out all of your ingredients and have them ready to go.
-You will want a mixing bowl, whisk, molds, measured ingredients and essential oils nearby.
Pour your baking soda, epsom salt, cornstarch into a large bowl. Mix them with your whisk to break up all clumps, and ensure the mix is fully combined.
In a small bowl, combine your liquid ingredients in (melted coconut oil and essential oils)
Very slowly, pour your liquid ingredients over your dry. Do not pour it all over one spot, or quickly, as too much liquid "activates" your bath bombs. Mix thoroughly with your whisk, until the consistency is uniformly like wet sand.
Add in your citric acid, and continue to whisk until mixed well.
Pack your mixture into your bath bomb molds.
Let your molds dry and harden for an hour before removing from molds.
One removed from mold, immediately place them in an airtight container to avoid activation.
